So, what is an RSS feed?

This is one of the older ways people would keep up with websites, so they didn't have to open them periodically and check if there's something new every time.
Some still use it, mainly news sites and people like me, who are into this "bringing back old internet values" thing.
You will need an app for RSS feeds, usually email apps like Mozilla Thunderbird and Outlook support them, though there are dedicated RSS apps out there.
The big benefit is that *you* are in control. RSS is strictly one-way: I send messages and whoever has the code on their feed receives them. The instant you delete it or your app, the updates stop and I will never know.
The big downside is having to get a separate app, oh well.
The other way people keep up with websites and blogs is via mailing lists, which aren't as cool and rad, and have sadly stuck around far more than RSS feeds.
I wanted to implement one at first, but besides not wanting to manage TWO ways of updating people, I also don't care for maintaining a mailing list in general.
How does it work? You put your email in a box, I add it to a list, and whenever I want to email subscribers about an update to my website, all the people who sent me theirs will get it.
Don't get me wrong, this is still a far more stable way of keeping up than something like a Facebook page, but it has some drawbacks:
If you are like 90% of the email-having world, your inbox is full of trash, you don't use folders or custom filters, and you only use your email for work. It's an inconvenient place to get news about my latest drawings.
Plus, should I have your email address?? If you want me to stop sending you stuff, either you'll need to click on an unsubscribe button and hope I've programmed it well, or ask me to take you out of the list, and I might forget!
SO, if you wanna keep up with what I do here, I highly recommend you subscribe to my RSS feed. You can copy the link (or copy the following: https://raykarr.neocities.org/rss.xml), open your RSS reader of choice, and paste the link wherever the reader lets you subscribe to a new feed.
Look at other sites that seem interesting, see if they have RSS feeds!
